Almost-Sleepover in Brighton, Michigan!

9-year-old Aurora and almost 50 of her friends made a big difference in the lives of some furry four-legged friends with their USCS Make a Difference Day Almost-Sleepover!

” ‘Elvis’ was the special guest at our Almost Sleepover in MI!!!” says mom Jessica. “We collected 142 POUNDS of dog food and made 40 cat and 25 dog toys for Last Chance Rescue of Howell MI!!! It was a great start to an amazing night, with 49 kids all doing their part for the community with projects and crafts that will help local senior centers, teen centers, and children with cancer at local hospitals. Amazing what kids can do!!!”

Aurora and her friends from her local Kids Care Club held their event to benefit the Children’s Cancer Center at University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) and Detroit Medical Center (Detroit). Admission to the almost-sleepover was one new baseball hat per family. Almost-sleepover guests spent their time embellishing knit hats, making dog and cat toys for Last Chance Rescue, making placemats for local senior centers, wrapping stocking stuffers for teens in crisis at The Connection House, and writing Letters to the Troops.

Local sponsors who have generously supported Aurora’s event are JD’s Pizza, McDonald’s (Howell), White Castle (Howell), Party City (Brighton) and Michael’s (Brighton).

Way to go, Aurora and friends!!!!
